Hello! My name is Cheryl Poage, and I am the 9 th and 10 th grade English teacher. I have been teaching since 2002 in both Florida and Kansas and have taught 7 th and 8 th grade ELA, as well as middle grades AVID. I received my Elementary Education degree from the University of South Florida and my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Wichita State University. I hold an English Endorsement grades 5-12, and I am certified as a Reading Specialist, as well. I am also ESOL endorsed by the University of South Florida. I began my teaching career in Largo, Florida where I taught 7 th grade ELA. After meeting my husband in 2005, my family and I moved to Andover, where I worked as an 8 th grade ELA teacher at Andover Middle School. In 2011 a military move took us back to Florida where I began to teach AVID, a college and career readiness system. Most recently, I worked at Franklin Boys Prep Academy as the AVID Coordinator and AVID teacher. Family and a great education system brought us back to Andover one last time, and I could not be happier to be a part of the Andover eCademy family. I am a proud mom of three amazing adults! Brittani lives in Dallas, Heather is in Nashville, and my youngest, Ryan, and his wife, Joanna, reside in Beaufort, South Carolina. My husband is a retired Army Major who hails from the great state of Kansas. In my spare time I love to run (I completed three marathons), bake and decorate cakes and cupcakes, and read inspiring books. My husband and I also raise guide dog puppies for Southeastern Guide Dogs in Palmetto, Florida. We are on our third puppy in training and are hopeful to have one that will become a guide or service dog for someone in need. Making a difference is my passion and I am confident the youth of today will one day change the world. I could not think of a better place to initiate that change than here at eCademy, as I work with students each day in a unique learning environment that allows them to prepare for a lifetime of success.
